PEA POWER AT WORK

Our products are based on yellow split peas. Peas are rich in proteins and contain a range of essential amino acids and because of the way we use them, they give our products a low glycaemic index – great for avoiding those sugar spikes!

Below you can read about the main nutritional benefits of our plant-based products.
You can also find nutritional information for individual products here.

CARBOHYDRATES AND SUGARS

FROM ZERO TO NOT-TOO-SWEET

ZERO SUGAR
Let’s start at zero, which is where all our products begin, since our pea base contains no carbohydrates or sugars. So, Sproud Unsweetened and Barista Zero have zero sugar, no carbs, and no added sweeteners, but are still high in protein.
A TOUCH OF SWEETNESS
Sometimes, though, you want a touch of sweetness. For Sproud Barista and Sproud Matcha, we add agave syrup to enhance the flavour. This natural sweetener has a lower glycaemic index than traditional sugars, meaning it has a less significant impact on blood sugar levels. In other words, it gives a little sweetness with a relatively small sugar spike. Both Sproud Barista and Sproud Matcha are classified as “low sugar”, with 1.0g/100ml and 2.1g/100ml respectively.
SWEET (BUT NOT TOO SWEET)
And then there are times when you want a little more sweetness (but not too much). We sweeten Sproud Vanilla using only sugar, with 3.7 g per 100 ml.
CERTIFIED LOW SUGAR
You don’t just have to take our word for it; Sproud products are certified by Sugarwise, the international authority that guarantees any sugar-related claim has been independently verified and that a product is low in any sugars or sweeteners people should limit, in line with World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines.
STILL NOT AS SWEET AS THE OTHERS
We always aim to offer options with significantly lower sugar content than other plant-based products on the European market. In fact, Sproud Vanilla has sugar levels about 30% lower than many comparable alternatives.

PROTEINS

CHOOSE YOUR PEA POWER

Yellow split peas are a great source of protein. Our drinks have varying amounts of protein, which we label clearly on the pack so you can choose a higher-protein option if that’s what you’re after.
HIGH IN PROTEIN
In the EU, this label means that at least of 20% of the product’s energy value comes from protein (some up to 30%). This applies to all our drinks except Sproud Vanilla. Perfect if you’re looking to boost your protein intake.
SOURCE OF PROTEIN
This label indicates that at least 12% (with some products up to 17%) of the energy value comes from protein. This includes Sproud Vanilla.

FATS & OILS

MAKING IT
CREAMY, KEEPING
IT NUTRITIOUS

MAKING IT CREAMY, KEEPING IT NUTRITIOUS
Our products use rapeseed oil (known as non-GMO canola oil in North America) as the main source of fat, it’s what gives Sproud its rich, creamy texture. We’re very selective about the oils we use, choosing only those that retain their natural nutritional benefits while delivering a clean, mild taste.

Rapeseed oil is naturally rich in healthy unsaturated fats (about 88%), including oleic and linoleic acids, which are essential for a balanced diet and support heart health.

Unlike many other seed oils that are high in omega-6 but low in omega-3, rapeseed oil has a much better balance (typically between 2:1 and 4:1). This balance helps reduce inflammation and supports overall cardiovascular wellbeing.
GENTLY PROCESSED
We source our rapeseed oil close to home (from southern Sweden near our production site) where it’s grown in line with strict EU farming standards and the even tighter pesticide guidelines of the FEDIOL code of practice. In Canada, we use non-GMO–certified rapeseed oil that meets the same high standards.

Our oil is pressed and deodorised, a gentle processing method that preserves its nutrients while keeping the flavour light and neutral. The result is a rapeseed oil with an ideal omega-6 to omega-3 ratio of around 2:1 which is one of the healthiest among vegetable oils.
Modern rapeseed oil is also naturally low in erucic acid, making it safe for everyday use. Plus, it contains beneficial compounds such as vitamin E, carotenoids, flavonoids, and plant sterols which are powerful antioxidants with anti-inflammatory properties.
In short, rapeseed oil delivers a perfect mix of healthy fats and natural nutrients, making it a nutritious, sustainable, and versatile ingredient in our plant-based products.

VITAMINS & MINERALS

GET YOUR DAILY DOSE

We enrich all our products (except for Cooking/Whipping) with essential vitamins and calcium. This ensures you get the vital nutrients as part of a healthy daily diet, regardless of dietary restrictions or preferences.

Here’s what we add:
CALCIUM
Calcium helps form and maintain healthy bones and teeth. It also plays an essential role in the contraction of all muscles in the body, including the heart. If the body does not get enough calcium, it takes it from the bones, so it’s important to get enough in your diet.
RIBOFLAVIN
Riboflavin (or Vitamin B2) helps break down carbohydrates, fats and proteins. Vegetarians and vegans may benefit from riboflavin-enriched plant-based foods and drinks to help meet their daily needs.
VITAMIN D
Vitamin D regulates calcium and phosphate in the body, working alongside calcium to keep bones and teeth strong. Very few foods are good sources of vitamin D, so enrichment of foods and drinks has significantly helped reduce vitamin D deficiency-related diseases such as rickets.
VITAMIN B12
Vitamin B12 is essential for cell metabolism and the formation of blood cells. It also plays an important role in the nervous system and DNA production. Since vitamin B12 is found almost exclusively in animal-based foods, vegetarians and vegans are at higher risk of deficiency, making enrichment vital.
